German prisoner of war camp at Bizerte, Tunisia

Photograph of a German prisoner of war camp at Bizerte in Tunisia during World War Two showing a large white building and military equipment. The port of Bizerte is situated about 20 miles from Tunis and in 1943 was captured by American and French forces. This cut off an escape route for German and Italian troops and a prisoner of war camp was established there. This photograph is taken from a collection of items relating to the career of Herbert James Wheeler.
