Extract from 'The Camp Magazine' First RN Brigade Groningen, Holland. Issue 1, dated April 1915. 1500 men from the Brigade were interned in this camp from 1914-1918. They had crossed into neutral Holland to avoid capture by the Germans when retreating from Antwerp. Pages 2 and 3. Continuation of editorial 'Greetings' from Commodore Wilfred Henderson writing about the misfortune of being interned an its circumstances. Also includes a section entitled 'Our aim and Ambition' which states 'Our business is to present, so far as possible, a faithful record of life in Groningen, until the arrival of the happy day when we shall sail for home." The magazine was used to boost morale within the camp and includes sections on the activities that were going on that month such as different clubs and sporting activities.
