Crossing the Line booklet HMS Emerald, 1933.
This is the front cover of a booklet which sets out HMS Emerald's 'Crossing the Line' ceremony in 1933. The ceremony has a long tradition and takes place when a ship crosses the Equator. The first time a sailor does so they receive a certificate signed by King Neptune. By this date the ceremony was well organised. HMS Emerald printed the booklet in advance, and already knew the date they would corss the Equator.
