Peter Wheen on communications technology since the 1960s and new technology. (RNM)

“I’ve mentioned a number of things that have happened in the Navy since the ‘60s. We went to teletype, we went to fast teletype over satellite – we got much more bandwidth over satellite. We’ve got data links. There are a lot of other things that I haven’t mentioned that have been going on. We use video teleconferencing, we use email, we use a new data link that can’t be jammed, we are using frequency-hopping radios as well as secure radios. So, there are a whole lot of capabilities that have come along.”
