A C Green and the Royal Marines Band Service
Royal Marine Bandsman A C Green is profiled in the Navy’s People ‘Themes’ section of Sea Your History. Here are some items, photographs and documents relating to his career and the history of the Royal Marines Band Service.
Photograph of the Royal Naval School of Music Band at the 1924 Wembley Exhibition.
In the foreground are Bandmaster 1st Class A C Green and Drum Major F Stagg. In the background the iconic twin towers of the then Wembley Stadium can be seen. The band of the Royal Naval School of Music performed so well that they were personally thanked by Royal Marine Captain Wigram in the Globe and Laurel, the Corps paper, and Green was presented with a silver Cigarette Case. Their performance did much to raise the profile of the sea-serving branch of the Royal Marine Band Service.
